Baroque Masterclasses at YMC

On Sunday 24th October the critically acclaimed Feinstein Ensemble who specialises in historically accurate performance gave a masterclass to members of YMC in the Hampstead Garden Suburb Free Church. The afternoon involved teachers and students of YMC being guided through excerpts of Bach’s music on baroque violins and recorders. Students had the chance to play together with first class musicians like Martha McLorinan (mezzo soprano), Christopher Suckling (cello) and Robin Bigwood (organ). Martin Feinstein (director/recorder) and Catherine Manson (violin) lead young musicians through some beautiful arias from Bach Trio Sonata’s, the Cantata 182 and the Christmas Oratorio.

Authentic baroque performance is a technique which the Youth Music Centre would like to add to the curriculum of young music students and is planning to venture out in further masterclasses of this style in the coming year.
