MESSAGE FROM STEPHEN WARNER, CHAIR OF TRUSTEES.
I have recently been elected as the Chair of Trustees of YMC, and wanted to take the opportunity to introduce myself, and to keep you informed of some other recent changes to the trustee body.
It is a great privilege to be part of an organisation which is now in its 51st year and which continues to thrive, providing first class musical education, experiences and opportunities to so many young students. Its current success is very much due to the talent, dedication and commitment of Marina Solarek as Musical Director, together with the support of all the teaching and administrative staff.
The trustees have overall responsibility for the governance and finances of YMC. The full list of trustees appears on the website. There have been a number of changes in our membership recently. Julia Edwards has stood down after serving as Chair for the last 6 years, and I would like to thank her for her time and dedication during her term of office; I am pleased to say she will continue as a trustee, providing the benefit of her knowledge and experience . Rachel Douglas, who was her predecessor as Chair, has retired as a trustee; her contribution over many years has been immense, and we owe her a great debt of gratitude.
We now have two new trustees. Dr. Amanda Craig, who is a GP and experienced school Governor, and Penny Driver, a distinguished professional cellist and music educator, whose own musical education started at YMC.
I look forward to continuing to work with everyone associated with this truly outstanding centre of musical excellence.
